Graduate Student Petition
Graduate Student Petitions are used primarily for 5 different reasons:
- Changes to a student's degree objective, major or emphasis
- Extension of a Time Limit for Degree Completion
- Transfer of Credit
- Permission to take an Extension Course
- Waiver Request to Graduate Council Policy
All Graduate Student Petitions must be signed by the Departmental Graduate Advisor or the Department Chair, not your Personal Advisor.
If you are an International Student here on a non-immigrant visa, your Petition will also need to be signed by the Office of International Students and Scholars.
If you are adding an Interdisciplinary Emphasis to your degree objective, the Faculty Advisor for that emphasis must sign off on your Graduate Student Petition.
Note: There is a $20.00 fee for the processing of each Graduate Student Petition. This must be paid at the Cashier's Office before submitting the Petition to the Graduate Division for final approval, or if you are unable to go to the Cashier's Office, attach a check to your petition made out to "UC Regents."
